Demir Mahircan

Ph.D. Candidate at Politecnico di Torino, Electronics Engineering

S. Mahircan Demir received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Northern Cyprus Campus (NCC) in 2017 and 2020, respectively. He worked with Prof. Dr. Ali Muhtaroglu for his master’s thesis entitled “Design of Fully Integrated Milliwatt Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting Interface Circuit for Wireless Body Sensor Networks.” During his master’s studies, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in two different micro-scale energy harvesting projects. Also, he worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for various courses. Some of these courses are Computer Architecture/Organization, Introduction to VLSI Design, Introduction to Embedded Systems Development, and Logic Design.

In November 2020, he started the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. For his Ph.D. thesis, he is currently working on “Wearable Piezoelectric Sensors” in collaboration with Instituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (CBN), Lecce, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danilo Demarchi and Prof. Dr. Massimo De Vittorio.

His research interests include wireless body sensor networks, low-power circuits and systems, energy harvesting, and integrated circuit design. He also enjoys improving himself in the field of computer architecture. He is an IEEE student member since December 2017.
