Valerio Andrea

Ph.D. Candidate at Politecnico di Torino, Electronics Engineering

Andrea Valerio achieved his Bachelor's Degree and his Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering with specialization in Biomedical Instrumentation at the Politecnico di Torino in 2017 and 2020, respectively.

He carried out his master thesis, titled “Development of Machine Learning-Based Algorithms for Assessing Tai Chi Exercise Proficiency in Older Adults”, at the Motion Analysis Lab of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, under the supervision of Prof. Danilo Demarchi and Prof. Paolo Bonato. The aim of the thesis was the development of data analysis techniques, including the design and the implementation of signal processing procedures and machine learning algorithms to derive clinically-relevant information from sensor data collected using wearable technology.

In November 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Danilo Demarchi, he started his Ph.D. program in Electronics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in collaborations with Molinette Hospital. The main goal of his Ph.D. is the development of a wireless system to provide a reliable estimation of Pulse Wave Velocity.

Research interests include bio-sensors, bio-signal processing, machine learning, low power electronics and wireless transmission for the development of biomedical systems.
